ABOUT

Welcome to Velo Paintings

I created VeloPaintings.com because cycling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I ride every year. I train. I race. I love endurance sports and the feeling of the open road stretching out in front of me. There is something timeless about a bicycle in motion, about effort, about distance covered under your own power.

At the same time, I have always been drawn to painting. Oil on canvas has weight. It has permanence. It is something I can create today that will still exist long after I am gone. In a world that moves faster every year, painting feels human, physical, and lasting.

This series reaches back to the late 1800s and early 1900s for inspiration. I study vintage cycling posters and historic race photographs, then reinterpret those moments as original oil paintings. Many early posters began as beautiful works of art, created by skilled illustrators. Later, printers layered them with shop addresses, product names, and advertising copy. I strip that away. I return to the core idea. The rider. The road. The light. The movement.

Some pieces are faithful recreations of historic cycling posters, restored to their artistic roots. Others are entirely new compositions created in the spirit of those early artists. Every painting begins on canvas in oil, built by hand, layer by layer. From there, I produce museum-quality prints so these works can live in homes, studios, and offices around the world.

I am grateful to share this work with you. My hope is that when you see these paintings, you feel what I feel on the bike: freedom, effort, history, and the quiet beauty of motion.
